The Taxiway Edge Light

I found this light sitting in the dumpster at the wash rack at John Wayne Airport. It's a Crouse-Hinds breakable base runway edge light (with the blue taxiway lens). I assume it's from taxiway Charlie, since it's marked with "C91". There were, in fact, two others in the dumpster whose shafts were broken...I still may go back and snag 'em. I took this one apart to find a strange connector...I still haven't tried pumping AC power through it, because I know these systems use voltage transformers, but maybe I'll try it someday. Regardless, I bought a $1.49 socket (held in with safety wire) and a 60-watt elongated bulb. I wired it up with power, and it works great!

I still haven't decided exactly what to do with it, but lately I'm leaning toward building a two-inch-deep base for it. The shaft sticks down below the flat base about an inch, and the power cord comes down out of there, so this thing needs some clearance underneath it (thus the cardboard box).
