This morning was Mike Holland's first flight in his RV-9A. Mike had asked me to fly chase plane. I'm always eager to fly chase -- I really enjoy being part of first flights and helping to ensure they go off without a hitch. As chase plane, my role is basically just to visually monitor the plane, cross reference airspeeds, and help the pilot out if anything funky arises. I hang back in an aft and low position, staying close enough to see the plane but not being so close as to startle or distract the pilot.

Mike's first flight went great. He built a solid plane that flies well...and looks good too. Congratulations, Mike!

After the celebration, Hog and I scooted out for another flight and had some fun.

Hog's camera is pretty darn cool, and he got some "sequence" photos of me and 14D as I did some "stuff."
