Today I flew over to Torrance and took Walter Tondu up for some flying. He's getting close to finished on his RV-7A, and I wanted to give him some stick time. He dug it, to say the least.

Then I flew back to Chino to squeeze in a little work, and Cassius Smith came out to meet me. He's building an RV-7A with his son Garrett in Alabama. Garrett is the pilot, and Cassius is the very supportive, very excited dad. I was happy to take Cassius up for his first ride in an RV-7, and his first ride in a tip-up canopy equipped RV. FYI, Cassius took all of these photos, thanks for letting me post them here!

Here's us on crosswind climbout out of Chino. I was chewing gum and looking like a dork as usual.

This is some flooding in the area east of the 71 freeway between Chino and the Prado Dam. It's unusual to see so much water here.

Another shot of the same, with the southern end of Chino Hills across the freeway.

Jeez, look at Corona Airport. Still lookin' nasty, covered in high water.

After we levelled off I turned the stick over to Cassius, who seemed right at home and just might have enjoyed himself a little bit...

Man, look at all that runoff.

We stayed up until sunset, then headed back to Chino.

Thanks for the photos, Cassius. Best of luck to you and Garrett. Say hello to all the gurus in the TVRVBG for me!
