Not much going on lately...tons of rain. Good excuse to do a few little projects on the plane. Something I've been meaning to do for a long time was to stiffen the oil door. Since I used Hartwell latches, there's nothing holding the corners of the oil door in place. It's held down, just not kept from flexing. I played with different methods of stiffening, but finally settled on this very simplistic approach. I took a piece of .040", bent it into an angle, and then fluted the crap out of one side so that the curve is as close to the contour of the oil door as possible. I bonded it to the door with epoxy and cotton flox.

Not pretty, but it works great.
