I got turned onto this by Bob Nuckolls from the AeroElectric Connection. He mentioned he tried one of these out and it worked great, and the kicker was the price. Basically the thing is spring loaded closed...like any clamp you squeeze the ends and it opens, exposing the three blades, which are all adjustable by little allen screws (this thing comes with the allen wrench for adjusting).

What's the big deal? Well, if you've ever manually stripped coax for BNC connectors, you know it's not difficult, but it's somewhat time consuming...and to say the least you have to be careful. You have to strip the coax in three segments: exposed center conductor, a short section of insulated center conductor, and then a section of exposed shield. Doing this by hand with a razor blade, it's easy to cut too deep. With this tool, as long as you're not in a coma you can strip coax perfectly in about 3 seconds.

Here's the back of the package, which shows the instructions (overkill) and the different models of the tool. You want the HT-322 for RG-58/59/6, the 3-blade model. It works on RG-400. For ten bucks how can you wrong?! Wish I had this sucker when I was doing my antenna wiring, etc.

This puppy finally came from Maxim-IC. It's the USB adapter for the "Blue Dot Receptor."

What the frick is that? Like I said, the Blue Dot Receptor. Isn't that enough info?

I'm still waiting on one more part...and then I'll talk more about this.
