Formation practice was cool. Paul led me and Trish (Son flew with Trish to get an intro) through all the maneuvers that we'll eventually have to do to get our FFI cards. We didn't go through the full range of pitch and bank -- since I'm working up to the FFI standards slowly but surely -- but it was a good workout and skill building exercise.

Unfortunately, work has gotten crazy, so I need to spend the night working -- no camping for me. But Redtail and Yellowtail were flying up to Lake Isabella for fishing and lunch, so I still wanted to head up there for the afternoon and meet them up there. Here's a shot around Tehachapi, looking north. It got pretty bumpy here.

I met Tom and John up there, and we walked down to the Kern River (just north of where it dumps into Lake Isabella). It was gorgeous. Wish I could have spent more time up there. I hadn't flown the RV up here yet -- the last time I was here was in the Mooney, when I met that guy with the SeaRey and Kitfox, who ended up convincing me to build my own plane. This place has a pretty personal appeal to me for obvious reasons.

I brought the fishing gear but didn't have time to do any. Next time...

We flew back to Chino as a flight of three. We did rolls to give each other an enroute airshow. Good time! Wish I had some photos or video, but hey...I had my hands full trying keep the plane from going straight and level...hehhhe...
