
These are the "ducts" in the top cowl that help the airflow entering the cowling. Using West Systems 105/205, I made a paste with microballoons and epoxied these ducts in place. Don't worry, the clecos came out fine later, and I'll just fill the holes.

I used a plastic squeegee to feather the edges a bit. It'll take at least one or two more rounds of filling and sanding to get this to look and feel laminar.

When Clay was out here the other day we dicussed this, the open space below (or above, rather) the ducts. I'm probably going to cap off the ends and fill them smooth. The reason is that although the baffles do come close to these openings, they don't contact. So there are these "tubes" for air to pass through. Even if no air is moving in here, it's not worth (in my opinion) giving air the extra space to play around in. The less chance air has to play around, the cooler and happier the engine will run. Who knows how much difference it'll make, but it can't hurt to seal this off!
