Half an hour later we were on our way. I had done this once before when taking the plane here to the new house, but it's always exciting to see your project moving faster than you can push it.

Pretty trippy. This time, the tail was on, the engine/prop/cowling were on, and this thing probably weighs a good 500 pounds more than it did the last time I moved it!

It got some great looks and stares on the road.

If you've got a taildragger, the flatbed is THE way to move your plane. If you've got a nosedragger, first of all I'm sorry to hear it (just kidding), but you will probably have to make other arrangements, or at least nose the thing up on the flatbed rather than winch it up by the tail. As you can see here, the nose sticks way out the back.

It's a blast to watch this thing move, you know...when you're not busy praying that the sucker won't fall off the truck.

The worst is over, it's at the airport. Rodelo's had never moved a plane before, and when I placed the call the owner told his young son to go out for the job and take lots of pictures. He came with a camera and got a real kick out of this whole thing.

Sweet!!! It's home for good!!!

Ok, now the real work begins.

Tonight I went back to the hangar (it's awesome to slide the doors open and see a plane in there) and did some organizing. First step was to get my work environment set up. If I'm gonna be able to spend some time out here, I've got to be able to do work.
